European Vacation (Look Kids, Big Ben)

So, I'm back from 2 weeks in Europe. Sounds SO damn pretentious--but it was much more of a trip to see old friends then it was to be a tourist. I love the Randalls who I stayed with for a week in England...they are like a bonus family for me. A home away from home--wherever they live. They are one of the few couples and families that I look at and say, hmmm-maybe some day I can be as cool as they are. It was such a sweet time. Seeing Travis turn 24...when the last time I saw him he was probably 14--other than maybe one other run in at 20. What an amazing young man he's grown into.
I also had lots of fun in Holland...hanging with my ol' homeboy, Roberto. It was fun playing with my new digital cam. Good times. I could see living in London or England in general. Obviously there's the language issue to overcome--but otherwise--it's pretty simple living. ha.
Well--what lies ahead. Hawaii. End of October. Anyone wanna come?

Hello from the other Randall!

I'm so incredibly jealous of the rest of my family--I totally missed out on shishkabobs and Mr. Tumnus.

So after the pretension of Europe... how about an African vacation? There isn't even a hint of it, it's actually one of the things I love about my life now. You don't even realize how much it controls you until it isn't there. I had this moment a couple of months ago where I suddently realized that I felt freer (or "abandon" as you mentioned in an earlier blog) than I ever have--anywhere. It's a beautiful thing and rare. Hope I can carry it off this continent.
